Common fiber combinations in hybrid composites include carbon/glass, carbon/aramid, and glass/aramid. The matrix material is typically a polymer, often thermosetting resins like epoxy or polyester, or increasingly, thermoplastics for improved recyclability and rapid manufacturing.


Hybrid composites find diverse and growing applications across various high-performance industries. In the automotive sector, they are used for lightweight structural components, body panels, and crash-resistant structures, contributing to fuel efficiency and safety. The aerospace industry utilizes them for secondary structures, interiors, and drone components, benefiting from their optimized strength-to-weight ratio and damage tolerance. In sporting goods, hybrid composites are popular for equipment like bicycle frames, tennis rackets, and skis, providing a balance of stiffness, impact absorption, and weight. Other applications include marine components, wind turbine blades, and industrial machinery, where their tailored performance offers significant advantages over conventional materials.
